Terms of Use.

01The service

LingoCell is an analysis service for single-cell data, operated by [operator: legal name to be confirmed] (“we”, “us”). You upload a data file and choose a task; the job runs on a GPU machine of our laboratory, and you get a results page, result files and a PDF report.

These terms apply to everyone who creates an account. By ticking the box at your first sign-in you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy.

02Research use only

LingoCell is a research tool. It is not a medical device. Its results are the output of a statistical model: they can be wrong, and scores are not probabilities. They must not be used for the diagnosis, treatment or care of any person. You are responsible for checking results before you rely on them or publish them.

Jobs marked TEST are trial runs. Where the page says that a stand-in model was used, the results are placeholders and not model output.

03Your account

• An account is personal. Sign in with your own e-mail address and give your username, your institution and your education or position truthfully: they tell us who uses the service.
• Keep access to the e-mail address of the account: sign-in codes and job notices go there, and the address cannot be changed later.
• You are responsible for what is done in your account. Do not share sign-in codes, and do not create accounts automatically or in bulk.

04What you may upload

You may upload processed single-cell expression data: one .h5ad file of up to 200 MB. Before each upload you confirm three statements. They are part of these terms:

This dataset contains no direct identifiers (names, initials, national ID, insurance or medical-record numbers, exact dates of birth or sampling, addresses, contact details, photographs) and no raw sequence reads (FASTQ, BAM, CRAM). Sample and donor labels are study codes.

I am entitled to upload this dataset to a service operated by [operator: legal name to be confirmed] and processed in Hong Kong and Japan: the ethics approval, participant consent, data-use agreements, my institution's rules and the law of the place where the samples were collected all permit it.

This dataset is not China's human genetic resource information, that is, genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic or similar data generated from human samples collected in mainland China, unless it is already lawfully public. I understand that this service does not accept such data.

Nothing else may be uploaded: in particular no data that identifies a person, no data you have no right to share, and no harmful files.

05Your data stays yours

You keep all rights in the data you upload and in your results. We claim none. We use your files only to run the jobs you submit and to show you the results; we do not use them to train or improve models and do not pass them on (Privacy Policy, sections 5 to 7).

You remain responsible for your data: for its content, for your right to use it, and for keeping your own copy. LingoCell is not an archive: files are deleted on a schedule and are not backed up.

06Fair use and limits

The service has a single GPU machine, shared by all users. The current limits are:

• one file per account at a time;
• 3 jobs waiting or running per account, and 10 jobs per account per day;
• a job is stopped when it exceeds the time limit of its task, at most 4 hours;
• a job that cannot start within 7 days is closed.

We may change these limits; the numbers shown here always come from the running service.

You must not try to get around the limits, to reach other users' data, to disturb the service or to probe it for weaknesses, and you must not use scripts to create accounts or to submit jobs in bulk.

07Results and reports

Each job returns its result files and a PDF report that names the input file, the settings, the software release and the limits of the method. How long they are kept is set out in the Privacy Policy; please download what you need in time.

If we later find a fault in a software release, we put a correction notice on the pages of the jobs it produced.

08Availability

The service is provided as it is, when it is available. The GPU machine is also used for the laboratory's own work and can be offline, and jobs can wait in a queue. We may pause uploads and submissions, change or withdraw a task, or end the service. We do not promise that a job will be finished by a certain time.

09If the rules are broken

Where these terms are broken, or the service or other users are put at risk, we may cancel jobs, delete data that should not have been uploaded, and disable or close the account concerned. A job cancelled by an administrator shows the reason on its page. If an account is disabled, the sign-in page says so, and you can write to us.

10Retention and deletion

How long files and results are kept, and how they are deleted, is set out in sections 8 and 9 of the Privacy Policy. You can delete your file, a job or your account yourself at any time.

11No warranty

LingoCell comes without any warranty: we do not guarantee that it is available, that its results are correct or complete, or that it is fit for a particular purpose.

This is version 2026-10-draft2. When these terms change, their version changes, and we ask you to accept the new version before you upload a file or submit a job again.
